The STREEET Safety Task Force was concluded on February 10, 2026.
On January 14, 2025, Vice Mayor Dan Wu formed the STREEET (Shared Travel Requires Engineering, Education & Enforcement of Traffic) Safety Task Force to increase road safety.
The Task Force was chaired by Councilmember Dave Sevigny and Councilmember Liz Sheehan and included Vice Mayor Wu, Councilmember Whitney Baxter, Councilmember Emma Curtis, and former Councilmember Hannah LeGris. Its membership also included community advocates, LFUCG department and division leaders, staff, and representatives from the Lexington Police Department.
The group met ten (10) times from January through December 2025 to investigate, advocate, and advance changes necessary to address public demand for safer streets across Fayette County’s transportation network. It focused on short-term solutions in three key areas: Engineering, Education, and Enforcement.
The Task Force provided recommendations to the Urban County Council and produced the STREEET Safety Task Force Action Plan to help promote accountability in implementing their suggestions.
Vice Mayor Wu formally concluded the Task Force on February 10, 2026.
