Shared Travel Requires Engineering, Education & Enforcement of Traffic

On January 14, 2025 Vice Mayor Dan Wu formed a new task force dedicated to increasing road safety. This group, titled the STREEET (Shared Travel Requires Engineering, Education & Enforcement of Traffic) Safety Task Force, will investigate, advocate and drive the changes necessary to address the public demands for safe streets for all modes of transportation on Fayette County’s transportation network, focusing on short-term solutions in three key areas: Engineering, Education, and Enforcement.

In 2022, the Urban County Council adopted a Complete Streets policy for reimagining multimodal travel. This comprehensive policy will take decades to roll out in newly engineered projects, but this task force is intended to close gaps and address immediate issues and needs.

The task force will be co-chaired by Councilmember Sevigny and Councilmember Sheehan. Each key area will be led and championed by Council Members with support from the rest of the task force.
